Should i get a vita now?

DespairX

Question

Never owned one. I wanna buy one tomorrow since there are so much games to play now. I would probably want the neon orange one or the aqua blue no idea which one is cooler.

Should i get a 32gb memory or 16gb is enough already? Then i only need to install henkaku and i'm all good just download the VPK's and install them? Still a newbie since first time i'll be doing this and im pretty new to the vita. Can i still use my Wifi for browser at least? or can i get online on PSN? How about updates and DLC? And installing games?

I'm overwhelmed right now.

If the Vita's game library interests you then I recommend that you get it. For the memory card I believe that a 16gb card is enough, that's just my preference though. Before installing Henkaku you have to make sure that your Vita is on the firmware version of 3.60, if it's below that version don't worry there are many tutorials on how to upgrade to 3.60 without updating to the latest version. Although, there is no permanent installer for Henkaku as of now so every time you restart your Vita you have to reactivate the exploit. You can install any vpks you find as long as they are not corrupt and you have to have enough space on your memory card, but be careful as there are some malicious vpks out there that can wipe your Vita's memory. When playing games or apps installed through vpk format you have to have the Henkaku expoit enabled or you will get an error. Even though you will not be on the latest version, you will still be able to use your internet on the browser allowing you to browse whatever you like. Henkaku includes psn spoofing meaning that you can access the psn servers, be very careful if you do so as it is not recommended by the community. You can install updates, dlc, and games but note this, if you have a legit game that you downloaded from the psn store it will not work with updates and dlc that people have dumped since your game is encrypted and the dumped content is decrypted. Of course, you can always just download backups that people post on this website and that will work just fine with updates and dlc. Also remember that if you are playing a backup of a game, you cannot use legit dlc or update it from the psn service as it will not work. There are many tutorials on how to install games, updates, and dlc; just visit the tutorial section of this website or if you're curious about something just ask about it in the General Discussion section. If you have any other questions feel free to reply to this post, oh and sorry if this explanation was poor and unorganized.

It's ok about it being unorganized. I saw what the Vita has to offer i do like the JRPG more i already sold my new 3ds the games feels stale because they have been the same iteration 1st parties with different forms. I appreciate a lot of RPG and im open to JRPG, racing games and fighting games especially adventure games and indies if they are good enough. I'm still relatively new so from what i know i need to have double the space when i install a VPK Backup game since i have to put it on the memory card then install it. Maybe there's another way? and updating henkaku or molecular shell is something i don't know as well.

There are other ways to install vpks without using double the space, check this post out

made by xxdarkmagicianxx. Using this method, you won't need double the space. If you don't like this method there are also programs that directly install the games to the Vita using ftp, these types of programs include PSVita VPK Installer and VitaOrganizer. You can find the links to them here

Something to add/consider; if you already have a competent gaming PC with a modern Nvidia GTX GPU (IIRC starting from the GTX 650 Ti and above), plus a decent WiFi setup, then it's a great time to get a Vita with Henkaku because of the Moonlight homebrew port.

Heck, if I had a modern Nvidia GPU I'd be playing the hell out of my PC games, games that I'd rather be play lying back on my couch with my Vita.

Homebrews are in vpk format, just like any other game. Refer to my post above, that should answer your second question.

Thanks guys! Which one is the better deal?

1.A brand new neon orange PS Vita Slim with 32gb memory for 240$

2.A 7 months used neon orange Vita Slim with 16gb memory for 180$

3.A white/light blue ps vita slim with 16gb memory for 140$

If you're looking for the best deal, money wise, then the 3rd option is the best since a ps vita slim costs $150 and a 16gb vita memory card costs $40. If you want a stylish Vita such as the orange one, go with the second option. I would only recommend the first option if you have the money to spare. These are all great deals though, so which ever one you get they're all great. If it was up to me, I'd get the third one since it comes with a 16gb memory card and it costs less than buying from gamestop and personally I get the feeling that I won't need a 32gb memory card for the Vita, too much space.

Thanks got my Vita!!!. The person said about some games don't install directly using VPK and i need to transfer some data files to APP?

Everything that you need to install comes in a VPK format (which is essentially a zip file). That's technically all you have to install to get an app running. However, if you don't have enough space to install the VPK straight out (because you need space for both the VPK and the unzipped files that are actually installed from the VPK), there's an option to just install a smaller version of the vpk (which only includes what you need to actually get the game installed on your Vita, but not the ability to actually run it), and then move the rest of the unpacked, necessary files to the appropriate folder.

Here's a

made by your friendly neighbourhood supermod xxdarkmagicianxx that tells you exactly how to do this (give him/her a thanks if this helped you out). Additionally, if you don't want to go through the hassle of of unpacking and repacking all that stuff, just use HaiHakkulku's excellent tool called

(note that that is the latest 64-bit version as of this writing. Check his/her

for any updates and to give him/her a shoutout). To use it, just drag and drop your desired VPK file into the VPKShrink exe. This should give you 2 output files. One is the smaller VPK file that you need to install, and the other is the folder that you need to move to the location ux0:app on your Vita.

At this point you should be golden. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask, but also make sure to check our handy

Hope you enjoy your Vita :)
