ckv1212
This recursively toggles all EBOOTs and VPKs in a folder from unsafe mode to safe mode. Drag and drop the folder containing maidumps/vpks on top of SafeDump's executable binary. It will toggle all unsafe eboots found, either loose (maidump) or packed (vpk), it will also take care of eboot_origin, of zips and of zipped VPKs.This is not my code, the author didn't want to be in the spotlight so I have published it. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF SOMETHING YOU SAFE MODED WITH THIS STILL BRICKS YOUR VITA. You run anything on your vita at your own risk, use your own judgement. anthios
I only used it once and it didn't do anything. I checked in VitaOrganizer if it had changed to safe but it didn't.
laytblu
i tried to drag files into it but the program just closed out. anyone know how to use this exactly?
evilpaul
..You drop *folders* on it containing VPKs, ZIPs, etc.
TheQuietOne
I only used it once and it didn't do anything.I checked in VitaOrganizer if it had changed to safe but it didn't. I tested it on a couple older dumps. They switched to safe dumps just fine and installed without asking for additional permissions.
Vita Queen
So let me get this straight. It will essentially remove any malicious content from both Vitamin and MaiDumpTool dumps, and will enable anyone to install even the most controversial VPKs out there such as Fruit Ninja? I'm not saying I want to install Fruit Ninja but I'm curious.
TheQuietOne
I wouldn't recomment knowingly installing anything that could be infected. At least not until there is a way to make any dump 100% safe. If these people that uploaded the malicious dumps find another way to brick vitas, this program may not save you. Always be as safe as possible no matter what.

dragonle87
So checked a few VPK files [M233.0 or 233.2z8]. It says file was unsafe. eboot.bin is untoggled (or something like that) so is the file safe to install?

As long as the program has completed its inspection and is stating something like, "Press any key to exit/close" then you are good to go. baten
Just a short question (not really related to Vita): Why does the tool check EBOOTs? Does it mean there is also something like this happening in the PS3 scene and i have to use this tool for my PS3 games (or rather the EBOOT files) as well?
evilpaul
It checks EBOOTs because they are some of the VITA executable files. If there's malware for the PS3 or PSP which also use EBOOTs this program isn't looking for that.
evilpaul
It doesn't work on this version of This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up . Says there's nothing to do with the directory containing the game's VPK but when I go to install it in VitaShell it still asks for increased permissions. Same thing happens if I check a folder with the whole RAR file from the download unzipped.
baten
Is there a tool that can check the VPK for safe mode before i send it to my Memory Card? I tried Vita Organizer, but it always says that the VPK requires extended permissions. Interesting enough safe dump processes the same file again if i put the folder onto the exe as if it wasnt processed in the first place (but it clearly was). evilpaul
It only reports when it has something to toggle and has done so. So if you run a directory once and it makes a bunch of files safe and then run it again it'll just say it's done the second time because it did it the first. That's my issue with the Muramasa dump I linked to. It says all's good, but going to install it in VitaShell and the VPK is still asking for extended permissions. I think I might be misunderstanding you though.
baten
Well, no matter how often i run the folder with the VPK through savedump, it doesn`t toggle save mode. But the fil has been processed as the date modified timestamp in Windows proves that the VPK has been modified by savedump. Tried it with 2 games (Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2) . Nino_Z
Can I just use vitaorganizer to make it safe - does this actually provide enough protection? Also - do vitashell, molecularshell etc get damaged if I make them safe (I mean - use the VitaOrganizer function to make applications safe)? I am assuming that they actually need access to the system files. Anyone have an idea?
