Do you think you'll ever work on the PS1 version?

@zarusama I don't think so, I haven't spent enough time figuring out a proper way of swapping the XA audio to begin undubbing the PS1 stuff.

Besides that, IIRC the PS1 original doesn't have the subtitles.

Right, I didn't remember it but you're right. Such a shame, it would be perfect to play the game in its best version... on PSP the controls are f**ked up. What about Ape Escape 2?

@zarusama Come on, the simplified control scheme is not that bad.

AE2's dual TOC files are a huge pain to deal with, I shelved that undub indefinitely but will try to come up with a solution by the end of the year. Edit: Ok, figured out the TOC files, only the soundbank headers left to edit but they're pointlessly crazy complex.

I found a few bugs that make impossible to complete the game in the undub. I finished the first ending just now and when the credits end and the post-credits scene is loading the game always crashes, i tried doing a save state on the post-credits scene using the original unedited version and when i loaded it in the undub the voices were in english on that scene. Also the game always crashes when i load a save file when playing in any other language that is not english. Aside from that and the clown boss in Specter Land, which for some reason wasn't undubed the undub works perfectly.

@Pocovid It's always the European version, innit? Right, I think I fixed everything this time around but I only have the the cleared North American save, so please test out this cso if you can: Please login or register to see this link.

Thanks for the feedback!

Ofc the English voices have manifested there because of the save state.

I tested it out, and now it works in every language, but it still crashes after the credits and (although it's not really that important) the clown on the circus of Specter Land is still in english.

Thank you for taking your time to fix it.

@Pocovid Okay, I think I have an idea now what causes the post-credits crash, though the clown's audio so far seems to be the same between the versions. I'll scour the executable for the clown's strings just in case a little bit later, right after I post the other undub that's almost finished now.

Massive thanks for testing it out, and sorry for the trouble.

Not trouble at all, the difficult part is the one you are doing.

P.S.: I looked up a video of the japanese version and the clown does speak in japanese in Japan.

The English version had 222 voiced lines cut, so those voice clips had to go. It also had 23 lines added, though they're all fairly generic and were relatively easy to find the close substitutes for.

Will properly re-typeset the whole thing on occasion if I'll ever discover a better way to decode the IPU videos.

※ The opening video is hardsubbed now, since you can't even watch it with soft captions until after beating the first level. *I goofed, the "I'm not so stupid to be done in by a puppet" line should've been: "I'm not a fool to be defeated by a puppet" to be more in line with Hibana's no-nonse ninja-talk, sorry about that.
※ I also took the liberty to un-invert the camera controls.
※ Shinobi, a prequel to this game, is dual audio natively.
Having trouble trouble booting the game on PCSX2? Try mounting the ISO and then loading it via CDVD -> Drive Selector -> (mounted drive). Thanks to @AD5 for the tip!
Thanks to @vergil2012 for reuploading the game!

So I stumbled upon a Russian fan-translated and undubbed version of the game – the undub was a bit incomplete but the game's archive was expanded nicely, which made it a breeze to restore the English language back and re-inject the Japanese dub, while also fixing every problematic voice clip along the way via some good ol' relinking and a little bit of silence trimming. Thanks to the ViT Company guys for their fan-translation and preliminary undub that made this undub a relatively easy one to make.
I gutted all the bloat from the iso along with the 50Hz versions of intro and ending FMVs, so be sure to start the game in a 60Hz mode.
